B4. The teacher appropriately manages student learning and behavior.
It may be because most of the students in class were mostly on task, but I did not run into behavioral issues within the classroom (besides students being on Twitter or other off-topic websites when they were supposed to be paying attention and/or doing their work). I walked around the classroom sporadically to physically check students’ screens in order to maintain focus in the classroom. Although I would get verbal and sometimes written confirmation from students at home that they were on task and submitting their work, confirming their progress was a little more difficult, even if I had access to their work via Google Classroom. Altoona Area High School does have a program called Securly that they use to monitor students' Chromebook screens even when they're outside of the classroom; however, it was not always accurate, and I didn't feel too comfortable invading students' privacies that way. Overall, though, assuring students at home were on task was my biggest difficulty as I never ran into behavioral problems with the students I taught even though their grade levels ranged from 9th through 12th.
